The 3L makes it easy for me to produce a full, rich, consistent tone from top to bottom on my vintage King 1240. The 3L also cleared up some pesky intonation problems I’d had with other mouthpieces. Finally, as a doubler (bass trombone/tuba), I really appreciate the “grip†that I get from the Denis Wick rim: enough to be sure about where my embouchure is, but light enough to allow excellent flexibility.
